About the translator

Eva Hesse brought American modernism into German — above all Ezra Pound, but Cummings too. With a poet who makes material out of capitalisation, line breaks and punctuation, the translation is half the achievement. The bilingual layout puts both side by side.

A note on counting

In the import package this book was recorded twice — once as «Poems · Gedichte», once as «Zwiespältige Ausblicke». The second was the back cover of the same volume: it reads «Zweisprachige Ausgabe / Deutsch von Eva Hesse». Here it is one article.
