Description

1949 Harley-Davidson Panhead, Swiss registration with veteran entry (2024). Knucklehead heads and cylinders, open rockers, springer fork, original frame, 4-speed. Runs very well. An honest bike with original patina – no rebuild, no show polish.

The story

The engine is called «Panhead» because its rocker covers look like upturned frying pans. Vintage 1949: springer fork, kick starter, Knucklehead heads — and it runs. Word of honour.

  • Engine: Panhead bottom end (1949) with Knucklehead heads and cylinders, open rockers
  • Gearbox: 4-speed · Frame: original rigid frame
  • Fork: original springer fork, period-style handlebars
  • Spoked wheels with classic sawtooth tires

Condition & papers

  • Runs very well, ridden regularly
  • Ignition and primary drive serviced (photos in the gallery)
  • The open valve train needs regular hand-oiling – that's the design
  • Swiss registration document, veteran entry 2024 (inspection only every 6 years, no emissions service)
  • Videos of the running engine available; viewing and test run any time
