historical photographs from a scrapbook
Item no. 100-795-000
«Hop Up», Winter 2012 with «The Troy Marrs Scrap Book» — photographs from a private scrapbook, a dragster from the early years on the cover.
Hop Up is the magazine for traditional hot rodding — cars built the way they were in the forties and fifties, with flathead engines, quick-change axles and no modern technology. Small format, matt paper, black-and-white photographs, hardly any advertising. The series is collected; single issues are hard to come by.
Scrapbooks are to hot rod history what soldiers’ letters are to military history: unsorted, uncommented photographs by people who were there. That is precisely why they matter — they show what it really looked like, not how it was told later.
Good. Magazine tight, pages clean, cover uncreased.
