Description

A deep porcelain plate by Winterling, Marktleuthen: a posy in the well — blue, yellow and pink blossoms with green leaves — scattered flowers on the rim and a gold line along the shaped edge.

The mark

The underside carries the green backstamp «WINTERLING · MARKTLEUTHEN · BAVARIA» with a crown above the W, plus the pattern number 128. Winterling was founded in 1903 by the Winterling brothers in Upper Franconia and was for decades one of the large German porcelain makers; the Marktleuthen works was one of its home plants. Production ended in 2000 — Winterling ware can no longer be reordered.

The decor

A typical scattered-flower service of the post-war decades: soft colours, plenty of white ground, the motif printed and closed off with a gold line at the rim. No exact year is given.
