four different slogans · red-brown glaze · sold together only
Item no. 080-643-000
Four tiki mugs from Trader Vic's Las Vegas in a red-brown glaze, each with a different slogan: TIKI NUKU NUKU, NICE TIKI, TIKILICIOUS and TIKI CHIC. The set is sold only as a whole.
Alongside Don the Beachcomber, Trader Vic's is where the tiki bar was invented as a genre — the Mai Tai was mixed there in 1944. Mugs from the chain's houses are the core of any tiki collection, and the Las Vegas branch issued series of its own. These four belong together: same shape, same glaze, four different inscriptions.
Four mugs with four different slogans were made as a run and are meant as a run. Sold singly the set would be broken up, and anyone later hunting the missing ones will hunt a long time. So they go together — CHF 160.– for all four, which is CHF 40.– a mug.
Good. All four without cracks or chips, the glaze continuous, the inscriptions clearly legible. Light wear on the bases from being set down. Clean inside.
