A small tiki head in glazed ceramic: honey brown, with large green eyes, a red-painted lip roll and white teeth. A notched rim runs round the head top and bottom, like a short barrel.

Not a mug

Unlike the tiki mugs, this piece is closed at the top — the cap is fully modelled and notched in a star, there is no drinking opening. It is a decorative figure, not a vessel.

The making

Mould-cast ceramic, colour-glazed, eyes and mouth picked out by hand. The glaze is even and glossy, the face grins across its full width.

Good, glaze complete, no chips. No base mark is documented — anyone checking the underside will know more about maker and age.
