Description

Standing wooden tiki, stained green-black, with a long narrow face: slim nose, concentric eyes, chip-carved lines on the cheeks. On the back, incised by hand: «Tiki Hana».

On the signature

Hana is the place on Maui's east coast where the old road ends — a name that means something in Hawaii. Whether the signature refers to the place, an artist's name or a workshop cannot be decided from the piece; it is clearly hand-incised and cut before staining.
