Description

A narrow, tall standing tiki figure in red brown: fan-shaped headdress with a notched edge, mouth wide open, arms held close to the body, a toothed ridge running down one side from head to base.

The material

Matte brown, slightly grainy surface with a fine sparkle in the light — neither wood nor glazed ceramic. Figures like this were cast in Hawaii from resin with stone powder from the sixties on and sold as souvenirs; no maker's evidence is present here, so none is claimed.

The form

Everything is drawn upwards: the head takes up almost half the figure, the body tapers to a plane. The notches run clean and even — a mould, not a one-off.
