Description

Replica of a tsantsa as made by the Shuar in the Amazon: drawn-in features, sewn mouth, long hair with a braided plait at the neck. A classic of the curiosity cabinet — and a piece that turns any shelf into a wunderkammer.

Being straight about it

This is a replica, not an ethnographic original. Genuine tsantsa are human remains, subject to strict regulation and not items of trade. This one is made from animal hide and hair, as they have been produced for collectors and bars since the fifties.
