Complete with telson · top and underside
Item no. 050-333-000
A complete dried specimen of a horseshoe crab: the crescent-shaped carapace, the hinged abdomen and the long, pointed telson. The underside with its pairs of legs is preserved as well.
Limulus is one of the oldest animals still alive — the body plan has been near-unchanged for some 450 million years, older than the dinosaurs and older than trees. Not a crab, incidentally, but closer to spiders.
Good, carapace unbroken, tail firm. A dried specimen, so light and fragile accordingly.
