«Parasite» belt buckle · tiger head, brass

A brass belt buckle with a snarling tiger’s head in high relief — ears laid back, whiskers worked out, the jaws wide open. Engraved on the back: «ALL POWER TO THE PEOPLE». With it the original velvet pouch bearing the word «PARASITE».

The engraving is no random slogan: «All Power to the People» was the watchword of the Black Panther Party from 1968 and was passed on from there into the counterculture. On a belt buckle it sits where only the wearer sees it — the tiger at the front for everyone, the statement at the back for oneself.

The buckle is cast, not stamped: the tiger’s head stands out plastically, with undercuts at the ears and fangs that a stamping die could not manage. The loop on the back is solidly attached and takes a wide belt. The brass has worn bright on the raised parts and dark in the recesses — that is what worn casting looks like.

The drawstring velvet pouch belongs to the buckle and carries the brand name. With pieces like this the packaging is almost always lost; here it is, and it makes clear that the buckle was sold as branded goods and does not come from a flea market.

Good. The casting is complete, no flaws, no cracks. The brass is bright on the raised parts and darkened in the recesses — grown patina. The loop is firm and not bent. The pouch is clean, the drawstring complete.
