Fondation Neumann / Somogy 2001 · Mucha's strangest work, the Lord's Prayer as a picture cycle
Item no. 100-969-000
In 1899 Alphonse Mucha translated the Lord's Prayer into a sequence of lettering, ornament and image — Le Pater, printed in Paris in a small edition. He considered it his masterwork; fame came to him through the posters for Sarah Bernhardt.
The Fondation Neumann volume from Somogy éditions d'art, 2001, gives the whole sequence at size, together with the preliminary drawings and commentary. The 1899 original costs four figures; this is the edition that still lets you look at the work.
Clean, block tight, boards without knocks.
