What Micro Machines were

Galoob launched the line in 1986 with a slogan that said it all: «Think big. Play small.» The cars are smaller than a thumbnail and still cleanly painted, with tinted glass and readable detail. In the nineties every child's room held a handful; complete sets on the original base are the exception today, because the base was the first thing to go.

About the licences

The back names the rights holders: General Motors (Chevrolet, Corvette, Camaro, Caprice, Cadillac), the Ford Motor Company and Porsche AG. For a hot rod set that means the bodies are not invented shapes but modelled on real cars — the '33 Ford is the classic hot rod basis, the Cadzilla a well-known Cadillac-based custom.
