A slender cat in a stretched pose, in brass. On the base is a paper label printed «Made in India».

What the label proves

Of all the figures in this holding, this is the only one with proof of origin: a glued-on paper label «Made in India». Such labels usually came off with the first dusting, so it is unusual that it is still there. For the other figures it expressly does not apply — they carry nothing at all.

About the material

The figure is cast in solid brass. It has gone lighter on the raised areas — that is how brass behaves when it is handled over years: the surface tarnishes, and where hands pass over it, it stays bright. Anyone wanting an even tone polishes it; most leave the patina that has grown, it belongs to the age of the piece.
