Description

A swan in the smaller version: the same design as its big brother, with a curved neck and suggested wings.

About the pair

This figure is obviously the little brother of the large swan from the same holding — the same lines, the same pose, only reduced in scale. Such series in two or three sizes were common in small sculpture. Both are available separately; side by side they make more of an impression.

About the material

The surface is brass and has gone lighter on the raised areas — that is how metal behaves when it is handled over years. Whether brass, bronze or brass-plated casting cannot be decided without testing; the weight suggests a solid cast.
