Cat, slender · brass, 16 cm

A slender brass cat, 16 cm tall: sitting upright, the neck drawn long, the ears pricked, the forelegs straight down. The base is formed as a step.

The face is reduced to a few marks: incised whiskers to both sides, a small muzzle, no eyes. It is exactly that reduction that makes the figure — from any distance it reads as a cat without showing a single detail. The edges of back and legs have stayed sharp, the casting is nowhere ground down.

The same holding contains a second, clearly smaller cat of similar making, with a «Made in India» label on the base. This one is about twice as tall, more compact in the body and has the stepped base. Two different pieces; take both and you have the pair.

Solid brass, cast, with distinct weight. The surface has grown: worn bright on head, chest and base edges, darker to greenish in the recesses. Anyone wanting an even tone polishes it.

Around 16 cm tall, read off the tape. The tape lies beside it in the third photograph.

Good. Complete, both ear tips undamaged, no breaks. Surface grown unevenly — bright on the raised parts, darker in the recesses. Stands firmly on the base.
