Description

A small animal figure of a standing donkey with lowered head, long upright ears and a suggested mane. The figure stands on an oval base.

Execution

The donkey is modelled compactly and in simplified form. Head and neck are inclined downwards, the narrow tail runs down and bends slightly outwards at the end.

Origin and material

No maker or artist is documented. Surface and colour suggest a cast brass figure; without material testing, however, the exact alloy cannot be determined with certainty. There is no photograph of the underside, so a possible mark or signature cannot be conclusively ruled out.
