Large sea snail shell · 9 cm

A large snail shell, around 9 cm long: a row of strong knobs above, a black-and-white banded edge at the base, and a widely flared aperture with a toothed lip inside.

The outside is marked light with brown flames, the knobs on the shoulder clearly set off. The basal edge carries a regular black-and-white striped band. Inside, the aperture is cream-coloured and smooth, with a row of short teeth on the outer lip and an orange-tinted depth. A natural piece, not a cast.

Around 9 cm along the long axis, read off the tape. The tape lay beside it and can be seen in the third photograph.

Good. No holes, no breaks on the lip. The surface has gone matt, as on a piece that stood on a shelf for a long time.
