Description

A full-length marlin for the wall: silvery-white belly, dark back, the characteristic long bill and a high dorsal fin. Mounted on a wooden board.

Construction

The body is moulded and painted, the fins applied separately, the eye inset. Not a taxidermy specimen but a reproduction — which makes no difference to the effect on the wall and avoids the question of species protection and provenance entirely.

Why the motif carries

A marlin on the wall belongs to the visual language of the tiki bar and deep-sea fishing as much as to the Hemingway cliché — which is exactly why it works over a bar, in a hallway or in the workshop.
