Description

Old German novellas in the translation by Alois Bernt, published by C. H. Beck in Munich. Medieval verse tales of love, desire and what follows from it — in a German that stays close to the original and so keeps its tone.

How it is made

The boards are covered in a playing-card pattern — kings, queens and fools in a grid, coloured like old card sheets. Title page in red and black blackletter.

Condition

Antiquarian: paper noticeably toned, boards rubbed at the edges and corners. Block tight and complete, no markings. The imprint leaf carries the note on the thousand of the printing.
