Bone hook with bird head — resin pendant, hand-painted, with maker’s tag.

The workshops

Tiki Hana and Bob Ho are among the Californian workshops that have kept tiki culture alive since the nineties. Cast in resin, each piece is hand-painted and carries a maker’s tag — small runs for the scene and for collectors, not souvenir-shop stock. The makau, the Polynesian fish hook, stands for prosperity, strength and safe passage — traditionally carved from bone or mother-of-pearl.
