Description

A seated wooden cat, upright and slender: large triangular ears, the face worked out with eyes, nose and incised whiskers, the front legs carried down free-standing.

The making

Carved by hand from one piece of dark hardwood, the surface smoothed and polished. Unlike the fully reduced figures, the face here is fully worked — the cat looks back at you. The base is cut with a jagged edge, as if frayed.
