About the brand

MOONEYES has been the hot rod scene's brand since 1950: Dean Moon started out in Santa Fe Springs making fuel pumps, and the yellow circle with the eyes became the sign of the whole kustom culture. Today the company sits in California and Japan and is a cult in its own right.

About the series

From 1969 Johnny Lightning was Hot Wheels' direct rival, and in the nineties it was revived as a collector brand — with licensed series for names like MOONEYES. Sealed on the blister card is the normal state for collectors; opened, a piece loses most of its value.
