Who George Barris was
Barris was the «King of the Kustomizers»: out of his California shop came the Batmobile of the sixties TV series, the Munster Koach — and the kustom classics shown here. The Hirohata Merc of 1951 is held to be the most influential kustom car of all; the Ala Kart won the Grand National Roadster Show award twice in a row.
About the series
The «100%» line was Hot Wheels' run at the adult collector market: metal bodies, rubber tyres, real paint — nothing in common with the toy on the blister card. A numbered edition with certificate, complete with its outer box, is the condition in which sets like this are wanted.
