Description

The Virgin of Guadalupe as a 70 cm altar figure: hands folded, gaze lowered, a blue-green robe and a violet mantle strewn with golden stars. She is framed by a green-painted mandorla and carried below by an angel on clouds.

The back

Then you turn her round: the back of the mandorla carries airbrushed flames — a soft gradient from yellow through orange into red, the kind that sits on hot rod hoods. Not a production finish but applied by hand. Devotional at the front, kustom kulture at the back.

Why it is here

Guadalupe is everywhere in Mexican lowrider and kustom culture — on bonnets, on skin, on house altars. With the flames on her back this figure is the explicit version of that. At this size she is no longer a shelf piece but a centrepiece for a workshop, studio or loft.
