Description

A small glass dome over a snow-covered fir tree, mounted on a slice of log with its bark — the base is a cross-cut piece of trunk, left rough.

How it is made

Not an off-the-shelf item: the dome is mouth-blown, and at its top sits the sheared-off remnant left by the glassmaker. The base is a real slice with bark, flattened underneath so the dome stands level. Inside lies artificial snow with the tree set into it. This is handwork, not a mass-produced snow globe.

Key facts

Glass dome on a bark base
Log slice with natural bark
Snow-covered fir tree, artificial snow
Dome lifts off
Small format

Condition

Good. The glass is clear and uncracked, the bark firm on the base. The snow has settled somewhat over time and no longer lies quite evenly — lifting the piece redistributes it.
