About: Flying Eyeball

Description

A small framed picture in which two visual worlds meet: at the centre the flying eyeball — eye with spread wings — over a red sun disc, with four kanji in the corners. Slim black frame.

Why it fits together

Japan did not copy American kustom kulture, it translated it: the Hot Rod Custom Show in Yokohama, the shops in Osaka, pinstripers with a handwriting of their own. Von Dutch's winged eyeball travelled along — and came back like this, with characters and a sun disc.
