Description
Two 14-inch steel wheels with 215/70 R 14 whitewall tyres fitted. The wheel centre is stamped «5½ J 14» — five and a half inches wide, J hump, fourteen inches. Five stud holes.
What the white sidewall is for
A whitewall turns any wheel into a wheel of the fifties and sixties. The effect is out of all proportion to the effort, and it only works if you have four — which is why a pair is usually the beginning, not the goal.
About the tyres
The tyres are old. I have not read the age off the DOT code; from outside you can see tread and whitewall, but not how long rubber has been lying around. They are therefore not intended for the road — for a static vehicle, a display, or a spare on the trailer, very much so.
Condition
Wheels with surface rust and old paint, not buckled, stud holes clean. The white sidewalls are yellowed and soiled — whitewall cleaner and some patience brings most of that back, but I photographed them as they are.
