Description

Three carved figures in dark wood, standing, in graduated heights. They belong together and are only sold as a set.

On the work

All three are carved from a single piece each, the arms close to the body, the faces set with a few cuts. The graduated heights point to a set — sets like this were carved one after another by the same hand and sold together. The surface is smoothed and darkly finished, the grain showing through.

On the origin

Not documented: no signature, no label, no date. The manner — slender standing figures in dark hardwood — is found in Africa as much as in South-East Asia. I am not saying where exactly, because I do not know.

Condition
