Description

A slim Colibri pocket lighter in chromed metal, with an embossed emblem on the lid. The base is marked «Colibri» in script, and below it «MONOGAS».

What Colibri stands for

Colibri has been building lighters since the thirties and was long known for mechanisms that worked without a thumbwheel. The Monogas line belongs to the years when petrol gave way to butane — slim cases, brushed or polished chrome, a refill valve in the base. These are everyday pieces from a time when a lighter was a birthday present, not a throwaway at the till.

Honest about function

Whether it lights has not been tested. Lighters of this age almost always need new seals and a flint; there is no gas in it. Anyone meaning to smoke with it should expect a service. Anyone putting it in a cabinet gets a clean piece of chrome with crisp stamping.
