Why it still counts

The lid carries a painted fifties scene: a Lockheed Super Constellation climbing, a stewardess in blue uniform and a crew member with a logbook in front of it, the line «Thank you for flying Breitling» and the Breitling B. The fuselage reads BREITLING SUPER CONSTELLATION.

Breitling and the Super Constellation have long belonged together: the Swiss association that operated Europe's last airworthy «Connie» flew it in Breitling livery. Packaging from that world is a collecting field of its own — often more interesting to aviation collectors than to watch people.
