Description

Three bamboo mats: narrow sticks joined by string so that they roll up. Natural colour, untreated.

How they are made

Each stick is cut and sanded individually, the string runs right through as a continuous line. This construction comes from the Japanese kitchen — sushi is rolled with it — but works just as well as a trivet for hot pots: bamboo conducts heat poorly, and air passes between the sticks.

Key facts

  • Three pieces, natural bamboo
  • Sticks on a continuous string
  • Roll up
  • Untreated, unvarnished

Condition

Good. All sticks present, the string firm, nothing broken. The bamboo has darkened in places — use, not damage.
