Vitra Design Museum 2004 · 295 pages, 25 × 25 cm · white board with relief embossing
Item no. 100-922-000
The catalogue to the Vitra Design Museum exhibition in Weil am Rhein, 2004. A book about the look of civil aviation: aircraft interiors, airport architecture, the corporate design of the airlines, the graphics of travel posters, the uniforms of the cabin crews, right down to the onboard crockery.
295 pages, colour throughout, 25 × 25 cm. The cover is a white board embossed in relief — a wing with two engine nacelles, rendered by the embossing alone, without ink. The back board carries Andy Warhol's line about aeroplanes and airports.
The front board is clean and the embossing crisp. The back board is soiled — grey handling marks on the white card, the kind an uncoated pale board picks up over twenty years. Inside it is faultless: block tight, no markings, no dog-ears.
