120 × 65 cm · beading complete · professionally rewired
Item no. 030-616-000
An Empire-style basket chandelier, 1.20 metres tall and 65 centimetres across — a sphere at the top, a tapering neck, a wide flaring basket below. The beading is complete and the wiring has been professionally renewed.
The French call the form «sac à perles», a sack of pearls: thousands of octagonal glass drops hang on a lattice of strung beads and together make up the basket. The light sits inside and breaks outward — not a single glare but a surface that glows. Cast bands of palmettes and applied rose garlands frame the zones.
This is not an antique but a piece made in the early nineteenth-century manner. If you want the presence of a salon chandelier without paying for an original, this is it — and you get wiring that meets today's requirements instead of pre-war fabric cable.
1.20 metres is not a living-room measurement. This chandelier wants height: a stairwell, a period building, an entrance hall, a restaurant. Under three metres of ceiling it presses down on the room. It is correspondingly heavy — metal frame and glass, no plastic. The suspension belongs in a load-bearing point, not a plasterboard plug.
Dusty — it last hung in the garage and wants a thorough clean. Bronzing with patina, a few garland elements sit loose and should be secured. Beading complete, no gaps in the lattice. Electrically sound.
