Original Charles & Ray Eames DAX from the early Herman Miller production — with a birth certificate: «MAY 7 1958» stamp and the original patent label under the shell. Not a Vitra reissue.

The story

May 7, 1958 — the day this shell was stamped at Herman Miller. Elvis was in the army, gaffer tape hadn't been invented, and this chair still looks better than all of us.

Condition

Good, unrestored original condition: signs of use, two small chips at the seat edge (detail photos). No cracks, shock mounts tight, base with matching age. This is how a 67-year-old original should look — if you want mint, buy Vitra.
